The
site's name, Laughin' Sam, is taken from
"Laughing Sam's Dice" who were a working
rock band active in the early seventies. The
band consisted of:
Charles
White ( guitar, vocals )
Jeff White ( bass, guitar, vocals )
Mike Guerin ( drums, vocals ).
The three
piece band from Toronto played venues all over the
province of Ontario, Canada from their formation
in 1972 to their breakup in 1973. They
introduced an innovative form of guitar-based rock
to appreciative audiences that became loyal
followers of the band..
Although
they had several self-written songs they performed
live and had numerous studio demos in-the-can, the
band did not release any commercial recordings

Sadly, one of the band's founding
members, bassist, guitarist, singer, songwriter,
Jeff White, passed away in St. Catharines,
Ontario, Canada on May 12, 2009 at the age of
56 Jeff remained an active contributor to
the Toronto rock music scene for years after the
breakup of Laughing Sam's Dice, and his passing is
mourned by the musicians and friends who knew him.
RIP Jeff, my brother and friend.
